This is the money that was in use at the time Connie was in England. The images are not to scale but relative sizes coin-to-coin are "about right" from my (English web administrator) memory.

Half Crown = two shillings and six pence, or "two and six" or "two and a kick." Eight of these in one Pound. A price of 7/6d would be sometimes be called colloquially "Three half crowns." Written 2/6d. Crown (5/-) was only minted on special occasions.

Two Shillings.
Also two bob bit, or older people might refer to it as a florin.

Sixpence. Most commonly known as a Tanner,
